In an effort to boost sales during the holiday season mobile marketing trucks covered the streets of Seattle, promoting Ikeas special offers and a contest to win a free dining room set. Mobile users in proximity to the trucks were instructed to enable their Bluetooth and download free offers.
Once downloaded, mobile marketing messages were saved onto the mobile device, used to enter the drawing for a free dining room set and forwarded to others via picture messaging.
Ikea was able to quantify their marketing budget by viewing detailed campaign statistics through the Hitch Media web based reporting tool. Ikea was able to view each interaction with a mobile device; detailed statistics include the mobile device Bluetooth ID, date and time and the marketing message associated with the interaction. |
